Roxanne Harris

The Lot Radio - Roxanne Harris

Roxanne Harris is a computer scientist and live-coding artist whose improvisational performances transform code into an expressive musical instrument.

Bio
Roxanne Harris “alsoknownasrox” is an artist-researcher and musician-programmer born and raised in New York City. Embracing computation as a site of collective reckoning, she parameterizes on-the-fly, extending improvisational dexterity across real-time systems. Her work moves between imaginary sound and realized consequence, foregrounding gestural memory and speculative possibility through runtime thought.

Harris holds a B.A. in Computer Science and Music from Yale University and is currently pursuing an MFA in Design Media Arts at UCLA. She teaches at the School for Poetic Computation and Gray Area, was a 2024 Processing Foundation Fellow, and has created commissions for Cycling ’74 and Code.org. Her performances have taken place at the Getty Museum, TivoliVredenburg, and MoMA PS1, and have been presented through platforms including Dweller Festival, Sónar+D, and the International Conference on Live Coding. She has given talks at Stanford, Parsons, and CalArts. Her work has been featured in KILLSCREEN and Office Magazine.
