Marta Verde

Resumen (A03) AZIMUT | Poboado de San Cristovo x Yugen Kala + Marta Verde - Marta Verde

A creative coder and digital artist

Bio

Marta Verde Baqueiro is a visualist and creative coder whose work turns real-time image systems, noise and randomness into sensory language.

Her practice resists fixed methods: each project develops its own tools and logic, layering footage, custom code and analogue video synthesis into live systems where glitch, texture and improvisation are not accidents but the work itself. The organic and the electronic do not oppose each other: they contaminate each other.

Rooted in a background in Fine Arts, her trajectory began unexpectedly as part of Projecto Trépia, a pioneering multidisciplinary project fusing traditional Galician music with electronics, dance and live video art; an encounter between folk culture and technology that has shaped her understanding of live image ever since.

Over more than fifteen years she has built a practice that moves fluidly across contexts: experimental electronics, contemporary classical music, large-scale performance, and generative audiovisual systems. She maintains a decade-long artistic collaboration with composer José Venditti, with whom she has developed projects including Omen, Arcano II, Espectro Dorado (awarded at the We:Now Awards 2024) and Gamma.

She has also collaborated with artists such as Aleksi Perälä, Christoph de Babalon and Fasenuova, and presented her work at MIRA Festival, Sónar +D, L.E.V. Festival, Ars Electronica, Museo Nacional Reina Sofía and the Martin E. Segal Theater in New York, among others.

/ TGAM's NOTES

Marta Verde Baqueiro transforms code, noise and analogue image into living visual systems where glitch, improvisation and texture become a visceral language between the organic and the electronic.
